Dr. Hongqi Guo, alumni of Harvard University‘s AMDP (Advanced Management Development Program)in real esate, founded Yitong Design in 2009 to focus on the impact of architects and urban planners in China’s tremendous urbanization.


Dr. Guo has been focusing on innovation of designs, creation of value-added design and consideration of residents’ emotion so as to realize its mission to serve its clients as well as the society by exquisite and pragmatic works. By virtue of his sophisticated hybrid design philosophy, Dr. Guo has led Yitong team and accomplished plenty of the most iconic buildings and urbanization developments across more than 70 cities in China in the past 14 years. His practice focuses on strategic planning and architectural design, integrating social and cultural brand creation, time-space planning, industry implementation, and cross-disciplinary connections.


Dr. Guo has led Yitong Design and has successfully designed and planned various significant urban development projects, including Wuhan International Financial City (IFC), Chengdu East Village CBED, Guangzhou Aerotropolis, Jinan Puli Center, International Aquatic Sport & Leisure Cloud of Demonstration Area of Yangtze River Delta Integration, Sustainable Aquatic Development of Dishui Lake, Renovation of Guiyang Alumina Factory Coal Shed, Guangzhou China-Singapore Knowledge City, Chengdu CBH (Cross-Border Harbor), Changsha High-Speed Rail Center, Wuxi Center, Shaoxing Shaoxin Valley, and other significant city development engine projects.


Dr. Guo’s unique hybrid approach involves strategic planning, professional architectural design skills, practical real estate development experience, and persuasive strategies to maximize diverse values for the government, developers, and the public. The practice covers central business district (CBD), urban renewal, new town, strategic planning, commercial, rural, highway (CRH) district, characteristic town and others.


With years of extensive involvement in China’s urbanization process and forward-thinking exploration, Dr. Guo and his Yitong Design has received numerous prestigious awards, such as the International Property Awards (IPA), Pro+ Award, and Kinpan Awards. Dr. Guo was recognized as the Pro+ Distinguished Designer of the Year (top 20 architects of China) and Kinpan Awards Annual Architect (one of the top 10 architects in real estate design field of China) , among other individual honors. He has been invited to deliver keynote speeches at more than ten international urban development summits worldwide, conveying his original design philosophy and China's urbanization needs and future directions. Consequently, he has built extraordinary international influence and garnered a rich pool of urban development industry and design resources related to intelligence, sustainability, and quality of life.

In 2022, Dr. Hongqi Guo was appointed the Chief Curator by Helena Rubinstein, the top-tier luxury beauty brand under L'Oréal Group, in charge of the design of exhibition halls of Helena’s international city tour to expand HR Helena’s international influence at its 120th anniversary.


Dr. Hongqi Guo is committed to promoting urbanization in the new era with a focus on improving people‘s quality of life, by his original hybrid design phylosophy. He has been invited to design development plans combining urban development and sports and leisure industries for various areas, including the Yangtze River Delta Integration Demonstration Zone, Lingang New Area of Shanghai, Hangzhou Fuchun River, Huangshan Taiping Lake, and Shaoxing Cao’e River. Additionally, he provides professional design and planning consultancy services for leading real estate developers and local governments, including Greenland Group, Overseas Chinese Town Group, Lingang Innovation Galaxy, Harbor City Group, Changsan Investment, Changxin Corporation, Poly, Sunac, and Fuchun Shanjv Group, to promote holistic strategic planning solution which combine space with contents.
